GreenPower Overseas Limited is pleased to announce its official approval by the World Bank, through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the Nigeria Electrification Programme (NEP), to participate in the Stand-Alone Solar (SAS) Performance-Based Grant (PBG) – Supply Side Subsidy (SSS) Subcomponent under the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-Up (DARES) Programme.
This approval follows a rigorous multi-stage screening process, including World Bank due diligence, REA technical evaluation, and clearance from NEP and REA leadership. With this qualification, GreenPower is now positioned as one of the certified private-sector partners eligible to receive performance-based grants to scale deployment of high-quality stand-alone solar products across Nigeria.
A Major Milestone for Energy Access in Nigeria
The PBG–SSS programme is designed to catalyze market expansion, reduce the cost of solar products for last-mile customers, and accelerate access to clean energy in underserved communities. GreenPower’s selection underscores the company’s technical competence, financial integrity, and longstanding contribution to Nigeria’s renewable energy ecosystem.
Speaking on the approval, Engr. Bamidele Faparusi, PhD, Managing Director of GreenPower Overseas Limited, stated:
“This is a landmark achievement for GreenPower. The World Bank’s approval signifies validation at the highest level and aligns strongly with our mission to expand energy access sustainably and affordably. This grant will enable us to scale faster, reach more underserved households and businesses, and deepen our impact across Nigeria.”
GreenPower will now proceed to finalize the grant agreement and deployment schedule with NEP and REA.
