FAPPY: The Doyen of Renewable Energy In Nigeria @52
Today, I, honour the remarkable life and achievements of Distinguished Honorable Bamidele Oyedele Faparusi, a trailblazer in the Nigerian renewable energy sector. As he celebrates another year of life, I, reflect on his inspiring journey, marked by dedication, perseverance, and a passion for service to God and humanity.
Honourable Bamdele Faparusi, is the Managing Director and CEO of GreenPower Overseas Limited, a leading renewable energy company in Nigeria. In his earlier years, he acquired an excellent background in Renewable Energy, Solar PV Systems, Power Systems Integration, Service Provision, include, installation, Maintenance and training and Project Management. He worked as a Project Manager, overseeing the execution of Projects from Planning to Commissioning; ranging from the installation of hundreds of solar vaccine refrigerators, Hundreds of Power Systems, Installation of Solar Systems for Water Pumps in the Northern, Eastern and Western parts of the country. He has garnered over 16 years of Professional Engineering experience.
As a Member of the 7th National Assembly, he was a staunch advocate for Education, Agriculture and Entrepreneurship; Hon. Bamidele Faparusi served as Sub Committee Chairman of Foreign affairs (NCPC), he also served on various standing committees of the Federal House of Representatives, including the Committees on power, foreign affairs, national planning & Economic Development, internal security, ICT, and Constituency outreach.
Education
He attended Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA ) between 1995-2001 where he graduated with B.Eng. Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
In 2006, he obtained a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). And in 2014, he got his Honorary PHD Award in Public Administration from Commonwealth University, London. He is a fellow, Chartered Institute of Project Management of Nigeria 2015, fellow, Chartered Institute of Local Government Public Administration of Nigeria (CILGPAN) 2012, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), 2011 and Member Nigeria Society of Engineers (MNSE), 2007. As a result of his thirst for learning and acquiring new skills, Honourable Faparusi, also garnered expertise in; International leadership and Organization Behaviour, SDA Boccioni School of Management, Italy. Public Policy Challenges of the 21st Century, Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, University of Virginia USA.
Beyond his impressive, educational, professional, legislative accomplishments, Honorable Faparusi also made significant contribution to the Executive Arm of government in Nigeria, as Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities in Ekiti State 2018-2021. His tenure was marked by visionary leadership, innovative policy-making, and a tireless commitment to the service of Ekiti State, he loves dearly.
His personal objectives include; continuing a life of public service, heeding the call of his country and party.
-To advocate for increased access to education in my immediate communities and Nigeria as a whole.
-To encourage entrepreneurship amongst young people
-To improve the environment by promoting Solar PV projects thereby discouraging carbon emissions and environment degradation.
-To continuously build diverse knowledge of handling national affairs, hands on experience in providing infrastructure, health, education, and safety services to Nigerians.
Fappy’s philanthropic efforts have also earned him widespread recognition and admiration. His kindness, generosity and dedication to serving humanity have inspired countless individuals, which has earned him barge of a benevolent leader. His selflessness and compassion have made a tangible difference in the lives of many, including myself. Certainly, his selfless service to mankind will inspire future generations.
As I join his numerous admirers in Ekiti State, Nigeria and indeed abroad to celebrate this great man cum Colossus, I honour his remarkable legacy, marked by excellence, passion, and a commitment to serving others. I also acknowledge his tireless efforts to promote sustainable development, empower communities, and inspire positive change. I wish him many more years of fruitful service to God and humanity and I pray that his life continues to be a shining testament to the transformative power of vision, leadership, and compassion. Happy birthday to the doyen of renewable energy in Nigeria!
